PST Awarded Computerized Screening in Healthcare Grant

We are excited to announce that PST recently received a Small Business Innovative Research grant for “CAMCI: Advancing the Use of Computerized Screening in Healthcare” (Amy Eschman, Principal Investigator, 1RC3AG037357-01). This funding opportunity is supported by funds provided to the NIH/NIA (National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging) under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for a new initiative called Biomedical Research, Development, and Growth to Spur the Acceleration of New Technologies (BRDG-SPAN). This project deals with the commercialization and barriers to adoption for a cognitive screening technology to be used in primary care physician offices. In this project, we will address these barriers to adoption with the ultimate goal of providing a useful and effective resource in the detection of cognitive dysfunction to physicians, the providers of the majority of healthcare to the elderly population.
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a significant health problem in the United States, resulting in an enormous financial burden. Our goal is to provide a solution to Primary Care Physicians that does not impede on their time or budget. CAMCI is indicated for the pre-clinical screening of abnormal cognitive decline. MoTrak Press Release
Psychology Software Tools uses Ascension Technology's Flock of Birds in MoTrak, our Head Motion Tracking System. Ascension's Flock of Birds enables MoTrak to monitor how much an MRI participant moves while a simulated scan is in process. This data is used to train a participant on how much motion is too much, ultimately minimizing critical data loss.
Anthony Zuccolotto, President and CEO of Psychology Software Tools, Inc., states that PST chose the Flock tracker because it provides the best response accuracy for six degrees-of-freedom data. It also has the highest quality sensitivity of motion. Zuccolotto adds, "Coincidentally, and independent of our decision, this tracker was less expensive than other tracking products providing six degrees-of-motion sensing. Improved quality scan data for fMRI researchers is a direct result of Ascension's Flock of Birds."
Jack Scully, Ascension's Vice-President for New Business Development adds, "Ascension trackers are expanding research and diagnostic possibilities for physicians and medical researchers worldwide. PST's MoTrak and MRI Simulator are good examples of how 3D tracking helps target and improve the efficiency of fMRI research procedures."

MoTrak Gold Release

PST is pleased to announce the Gold Release of the Head Motion Tracking System - MoTrak.
In the simulator, the participant can simultaneously be habituated to the MRI environment, while being trained to remain still via feedback from the MoTrak system.

PST, in collaboration with industry experts, has developed a self-administered, user-friendly screening tool designed to provide a score that represents the probability that the individual’s cognitive performance would fall within the range of MCI if tested on a comprehensive neuropsychological test battery and reviewed by expert neuropsychologists (86% sensitive and 94% specific*). This research effort was supported through a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant from NIH and the National Institute on Aging (#5R44AG022792-03).

Psychology Software Tools, Inc. is pleased to announce that the E-Prime Extensions for fMRI (EEfMRI) Preview Release is now available for download.
The EEfMRI Preview Release can be downloaded here
E-Prime® Extensions for fMRI is software specifically designed to integrate with E-Prime behavioral experiments. The E-Prime® Extensions for fMRI software provides the user with the ability to view post-run participant performance data, synchronize the start of the experiment with the first scanner trigger pulse (additional hardware needed), and implement a user defined menu function.
It also allows the user to interrupt/halt an experimental run and return back to the menu to restart.

Psychology Software Tools, Inc. participated in the Memory Walk to benefit the Alzheimer's Association, on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium in Highland Park.
We are proud to say that we met and exceeded our fundraising goal of $2,000.00 by raising $5,035.00! Making us the sixth highest local fundraising team in this year's walk.
We also met and exceeded our recruitment goal of 10 members with 22 total team members.
